Philanthropy

Philanthropy

Philanthropy

Giving back is a core part of the Phi Chi Theta experience. Throughout the year, our chapter organizes fundraisers, service projects, and donation drives that allow members to make a meaningful impact both on campus and throughout the Athens community. Every semester, we come together to support causes that are important to our members, whether that's raising money for national organizations, providing relief for communities affected by natural disasters, or supporting local initiatives.

  • Balls for Balls: One of our signature philanthropy events, Balls for Balls, was created in honor of former Phi Chi Theta member Dani O'Brien and raises awareness and funds for testicular cancer research. This annual meatball-eating competition has become a chapter tradition, bringing together students, alumni, and the Athens community to support an important cause while honoring Dani's legacy.

  • Fundraiser Baskets: Each semester, our members create and raffle themed gift baskets to raise money for causes selected by the chapter. These fundraisers allow us to directly support organizations and initiatives that have personal meaning to our members while encouraging involvement from the campus community.

  • Food Drive: Phi Chi Theta proudly hosts food collection drives benefiting the local Athens food bank. By collecting non-perishable food donations from students, faculty, and community members, we help support families facing food insecurity while encouraging members to give back through hands-on community service.

  • Pickleball for a Good Cause: Our annual pickleball tournament combines friendly competition with philanthropy. Participants come together for a day of fun while raising money for charitable causes selected by the chapter, creating an event that promotes both community engagement and meaningful impact.

  • Semester Cause Initiative: Each semester, our chapter selects a cause that is personally meaningful to one of our members or relevant to communities in need. We organize fundraising events and awareness campaigns to support organizations such as the American Cancer Society, disaster relief efforts following hurricanes, and other charitable initiatives. This tradition allows our philanthropy efforts to remain personal, impactful, and responsive to the needs of our members and the communities around us.

Founders Day 2026

Spring Rush 2026

More Than a Fraternity—It's a Community

The friendships you build in Phi Chi Theta are what make our organization truly special. From the first day of recruitment to graduation and beyond, you'll be surrounded by people who celebrate your successes, support you through challenges, and make Ohio University feel like home.

Whether we're tailgating on game days, attending formals, celebrating Founder's Day, hosting brotherhood events, enjoying cookouts, camping trips, or spending time together around Athens, there's always something happening. No matter your interests, you'll find a place to belong.

Experiences You'll Never Forget

One of our favorite traditions is our annual Chicago Networking Trip, where members have the opportunity to explore the city, visit top companies, connect with alumni, and experience professional networking alongside their closest friends. It's just one example of how Phi Chi Theta combines professional growth with unforgettable memories.

Friendly Competition

Competition is a big part of our chapter culture. Members participate in events like Business Olympics, PCT Olympics, intramural sports, and friendly competitions throughout the year that bring everyone together. Whether you're competitive or just looking to have fun, there's always a way to get involved.

Your Home Away From Home

College is about more than earning a degree—it's about finding people who make the experience unforgettable. In Phi Chi Theta, you'll build friendships that last far beyond graduation while creating memories you'll look back on for years to come. The events are fun, but it's the people who make this organization feel like home.
